Arthouse Games

While the minigame is definitely a key feature of Paradroid, the article doesn't mention how smooth the motion and scrolling was.

This doesn't mean much today, but in the context of what hardware could do 22 years ago - and of playing this with a huge clunky c64 joystick, the motion was outstanding. The various droids would accelerate and corner differently, if you bumped at speed into something you could really "feel" the rubbery bounce, you could would shoot while passing open doors, try to outrace the lasers etc...

Fond memories
